YELLOW & WHITE BOOK
Botanical artists of all skill levels often shy away from depicting yellow or white flowers.
The challenge lies in capturing a full range of values to create contrast—without making yellow flowers appear muddy, or white flowers too dark.
In my early-spring drawing workshops, daffodils have always been a reliable subject to introduce to all skill levels. In preparation for teaching the best approach towards achieving contrast and high color saturation, I discovered a method that I felt confident enough to share with my students.
White flowers also presented their own unique hurdles, so I decided to combine both approaches into a book I plan to self-publish.
